Job Description

 

Senior engagement manager with experience in managing mid-size to large software development teams and supporting solution sales teams. 

 

The role requires the individual to take responsibility for services (consulting and IT services), handle situations appropriately with customer contacts at CxO, IT, and vendor management levels, support sales personnel in devising and presenting solutions. The Engagement Manager will work to maximize customer satisfaction while maintaining profitability.

 

The individual must have the proven ability in managing remote (offshore) software teams. Consulting firm experience is required.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Ultimately responsible for the success of the engagement
  • Manage the client relationship
    • Actively solicit, uncover and negotiate customer strategic objectives and related requirements.
    • Manage multiple priorities and customer expectations.
    • Influence the business with customer focused technology solutions.
    • Lead cross-functional, matrixed staff across multiple lines of business.
    • Establish trust, rapport and credibility with the client
    • Farm and size new business opportunities with the client.
  • Manage large scale software development efforts consisting of multiple project teams.
    • Define and manage project scope.
    • Develop and manage project plans and timelines.
    • Manage project human resources.
    • Manage project budgets.
    • Manage project quality and risk processes.
  • Manage the project communication processes
  • Work closely with the Project Managers to monitor status and rectify issues.
  • Foster an environment of collaboration and process between the client, Project Managers, Architect, and development teams.
  • Collaborate with offshore leadership team on escalated issues.
  • Work closely with the client project sponsor and executive team to ensure overall client satisfaction
  • Manage the technical process
  • Translate technical requirements into business solutions.
  • Manage multiple technical components within the enterprise. 

Qualifications:

  • At least 8-10 years of experience with Outsourcing – experience with offshore model is mandatory.
  • Experience managing teams of 100 plus in an On-Site/Offshore setting is essential
  • 10-15 years of information technology experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an engagement manager role with at least 3 prior years of project management experience.
  • Exposure to working with teams based in China is a plus
  • Ability to speak Mandarin is a plus
  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written. 
  • Good listening skills. 
  • Good presentation skills. 
  • Must be independent and a self-starter. 
  • Must be able to handle CxO level contacts, and also IT management and Vendor management contacts. 
  • Must be familiar with delivering outsourced projects into mid-large sized firms. 
  • Experience in the banking industry is a plus
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical skills, detailed oriented
  • Be able to understand competitors' strengths and weaknesses and effectively articulate company’s competitive advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business, or engineering.
